What colour would suit this scheme? (pic attached)

We've painted our hall in Calm Cloud (Dulux) which is a very pale grey. Our carpet is this stripe. The hall is quite dark (hence the pale grey on walls) and we currently have a table & mirror (matching) that is black iron legs/frame and pine (varnished) table top/inner mirror frame. I'm not keen on either, but can't afford to replace at the moment so was thinking of painting the wood on them but can't decide on a colour. Would it be odd to paint in the same pale grey as the walls? Or should I go darker grey? Or stay away from grey altogether?? I'm lost so would welcome any advice!

Hi Op I wouldnt paint the same colour as the wall, maybe a dark grey or something really bright maybe yellow, mustard, teal, or turquoise would look good as a contrast you could maybe add lamp, picture frames etc in the colour you paint the table & mirror to tie in.

Thanks. I'm sort of limited by the colours in the carpet - I love mustard and teal but neither would go with my carpet! Maybe a dark grey then, there's a dark grey stripe in the carpet so that could work. Thanks

Mustard would tone really well with the rusty red in the carpet.

Alternately, pik up the cream for a bit of a shabby shite chic vibe.
