New skirting - is Briwax any good?

We are fitting new skirting, plain pine boards and I would like to put a stain on them with a built in wax as I know DS and DH will not think and will apply dirty fingers at some point

Am I right in thinking that a product like briwax wax polish (dark oak) will do what I want, protect the boards from general dirt and allow me to wipe clean while still seeing the natural wood grain or should I look for something else?

I've used Briwax in the past. I don't think it has enough colour in it do what you want, you would need to stain the skirting first. Briwax would enhance it but it would look a bit 'thin' by itself.

Thank you - was hoping for a shortcut but I guess there are none :)

Hi I used briwax on a new door/skirtings & found it very good, it did stain ok , I applied it with wire wool & buffed with a lint free cloth.
I only did one coat as I didn't want it too dark, so imagine you could build the colour up more, by applying extra coats.
