Bedroom flooring - not carpet

Due to allergies I need to replace carpets in 2 bedrooms. Any suggestions for something that looks nice but doesn't cost the earth. I have wooden floors down stairs so like that look & will probably put rugs down.

Oooh very nice. Is it easy to lay on an upstairs floor, I'd be worried about some movement. Also does it need oiling/treating every couple of years, we're having to move out for a week while downstairs gets relived as the smells will make us ill.

We got it from the bamboo flooring company. AFAIK you don't need to sand the one we got. 3 story house and we have it on ground and first. Lay it like laminate and ensure a good underlay and beading at the skirting boards.
