Bed dilemma

I'm not sure if this is the right forum but I'm planning to buy a new king bed and I've seen one I really like. It's on slats and I've always had ensembles before.
My concern is my mattress is a standard king but the internal frame is 5cm wider so they'll be 2.5cm gap between the bed and mattress. That seems quite wide to me and I'm concerned you'll see the slats.

To those with slat beds what size a gap do you have between bed and mattress?

That sounds a little odd, A standard king size mattress should be appropriate for any standard king size bed. Having said that an inch either side shouldn't be a problem. Generally you need a bit of a gap to put your sheets on etc.
