Cost of recovering armchair

Fabric on seat of Laura Ashley armchair has split. Chair is fine so want to get it recovered with new fitted covers.

Anyone have a rough idea of costs?

We got quoted around £200 to recover an armchair we picked up on freecycle. I'm not sure if that's a normal amount, we just ran a carpet cleaner over it instead and left it for now. I'm guessing a big variance would be the cost of the fabric.

£200 is really cheap to reupholster an armchair!

Upwards if £500 depending on fabric for a decent job.

How long have you had the chair?

I've done this recently - reputable upholsterer and Laura Ashley chair. £350 plus fabric (which was about £80 I think).

Had the chair five years. Will probably end up being cheaper to buy a new one which just seems a shame
