TIles or glass splashback?

I've had my new kitchen fitted which I love but struggling to decide between tiles or glass splash back. I prefer glass although the three quotes so far all around just £1,000 is putting me off. My husband would rather tiles because they are cheaper but I think they will look dated very soon. Thoughts?

You'd be able to achieve a nice look with tiles (there are so many different styles you could go with) but depending on the style of your kitchen a glass splashback could look stunning.

We have a modern shaker matt kitchen in light grey and went for a pale teal coloured glass splashback, it looks amazing and I love it. More expensive than tiles but also easier to keep clean as no grout to discolour.

Mind you that said our utility room is tiled in cheap dark matt B&Q tiles with a paler grout (ran out of money for anything else) and that looks fab too. Kitchen glass splashback was about £1.2k, tiles were £10 a box and they each look great in their different ways.

At the end of the day everything will date eventually: tiles, glass, matt units, gloss units. Best advice has to be to go with what you like best, assuming you can reasonably afford it. So if you can afford the glass then go for it, but if it's going to be a real stretch for you then go with tiles.

We have "back painted glass" it's brilliant. You can have any colour you like, it's easy to clean, my house is 400+ years old so the plaster behind it was very damaged and not flat, the glass covers it all over, my DH fitted it 20 mins, no need to pay a plaster to try and flatten the wall or a tiler.
It looked a bit clinical when we did it but I've stuck photos cards etc on and everyone who sees it comments on how great it looks.

We have a glass splash back filling the space between the granite and wall units and running the length of our kitchen and it looks amazing!

Cost a fair whack but the company who made it were excellent- they templated and fitted it too.
