Just painted chimney breast/new fire/tv but looks a bit bare!

Need some inspiration please as to what else to do?

What can I hang here?

I think I would have put the TV a bit higher up to balance the space better....a decorative clock might work?

is there a reason the tv is so low?

It used to be higher but was uncomfortable to watch!

When you look straight on it doesn't look quite so low I think. Clock might be good - but something 'open' rather than solid?

I like the TV where it is. Nothing worse than having to crane your neck! I think it looks lovely OP. Would get two pictures side by side up there I think.

Excuse the poor quality of photo but what about some ball lights?

It does look very low in that pic.

I'd have said a mirror but I think it's going to give you a busy chimney breast whatever as too many contrasting or similar shapes. Usually the tv is basically the main attraction.

Could you take it off the wall and have it on a tv unit or something?

Fauxfox I know what you mean about balance but I think we right thing or things above that will be achieved hopefully!

Bluntness, we've tried it on a bracket to the side of chimney breast and on a stand in the fireplace. Due to layout of room this is the best option. I'm confident once it has something above it it will look great - at the moment it just looks bare and highlights the low level of the TV!

I think the only thing you could get away with is as PP have suggested a clock. Will you not get problems with heat from the fire on TV?

Developing - the fire isn't real!

Oh right. Does it have a flame effect? I have an electric fire, never use it for heat just the flame effect.

Oh yes, I agree ball lights. Or metal piece of art or transfers maybe I know they are hated on this site, I like some of them though

Could you put a shelf above and put candles on. Or a nice piece of wood, it would break it up and still give it a framed feel.

I think you need to have something textural in the fire place, mood lights, candles, pebbles perhaps.

Above tv have a built out self that goes from the alcove and continues along the chimney breast. Maybe have two shelves going along but of different lengths. And then put vases of flowers on it.

Hard to explain.

All the best - I have stuff for in the fireplace just not put them back yet! Quite liking idea of a shelf - maybe one of those picture ledges would look good?

I have no advice, but do you remember the name of your green paint? I love it!

I disagree with suggestions to put pictures or a click there. I think it will look like you just have a load of things stacked on top of each other and won't look good. Ideally the tv needs to be higher up so you don't have such a huge space with nothing on it, but if that's not an option the only thing really that wouldn't look too bad is a long rustic oak shelf- really plain looking and chunky with just a couple of simple jar candles on. I'll try and find a pic off google of what I mean.
