Venetians or Shutters?

We're looking to get rid of the roller blinds we inherited with the house, and debating whether to go for venetians or shutters. House is an extended 1960's semi, it's now double-fronted with a small bay windows downstairs. I'm thinking with the bays that shutters may look smarter? But then I can't get my head around upstairs, I want everything to look nice and uniform from the outside, would shutters be odd in a bedroom? I'm guessing venetians would be way less expensive option. Thoughts from you nice people?

If money was no object I would pick shutters throughout the house.
Money is an object though so having to settle for Venetians instead.

Thanks, think we need to get a few quotes for both and see what's do-able. Can't decide whether the shutters would be a bit much on our bedroom windows, also they are not symmetrical (one narrow pane and one wide pane) so shutters might just look a mess. Am hopeless at home decor stuff, not a clue.

What about Roman blinds? Venetians are a nightmare to keep clean.

The shutters don't have to mirror the panes. We have shutters and I do love the aesthetic but they are a pain to keep clean.
If ease of dusting is important to you, don't choose shutters.

I have high threshold for dust so not too worried about that, have had venetians in a past life, presume it's around the same dust level?

I do like romans, but big reason I want to change the rollers is that our house is near the street, so I want a bit of privacy.

If you don't match the window panes does it not look a bit odd from outside? Also do I need to fork out for solid wood or are the mdf jobbies ok?

We've just put these ones http://www.dunelm.com/product/50mm-dove-grey-hardwood-venetian-blind-1000086581 from Dunelm based on the fact they come in lots of widths so we were able to do the windows we wanted without any cutting down of slats.

They are beautiful Savoy, we're in rep Ireland so don't think that particular firm are available but no doubt there's an equivalent of lovely high quality venetians this side of the sea.

I am debating about shutters at the mo too. Looking for our main lounge bay window which is BIG!

The room can be quite cold so wondering if they wouldnt feel as warm as having the curtains in the winter? Plus the windows are square leaded and dark wood UPVC so wonder if they would look right?
