Why is my wall doing this??

I'm worried as to what is lurking under my lining paper. I'm too scared to remove it. Does anyone have any comforting ideas as to why it is doing this? Or is my roof about to fall off?

Why is my wall doing this??

It looks damp...

Is that the wall or the ceiling? And a wall, is it a party wall? Could it be a leaking water pipe?

hellybellyjellybean · 19/03/2017 21:34

This looks a bit like ours looked, do you have a chimney on that wall?

eurochick · 19/03/2017 21:36

Damp. Do you have a crack on the other side of that wall?

bobbilyknob · 19/03/2017 21:49

Thank you for your replies.
It's an external wall. Spans that whole wall, it's about gutter height, could that do it?
Will have a look tomorrow at the wall outside.

Is it a new house?
New walls/plaster can 'settle' a bit.
At least I hope that's it...

I suspect that you have a leaking or a blocked gutter. You need to get a repair chappie up there as soon as possible, or it will only get worse.

bobbilyknob · 19/03/2017 21:55

By the way the discoloration is just shadows from the bumpy plaster, (not sure if that's what looks like damp or the actual bumps.)

It's 1950s.
Right, better call somebody to have a look.

Thank you.

Yes, get it looked at by somebody in the know.
A leaky gutter or similar ought to be fixable fairly easily.
Lick of paint, bob's yer uncle
