Is there such a thing as nice net curtains?

I don't like blinds really but nets just make me thing of my grandma!

For three bedrooms upstairs, with windows completely lined up with those over the road. Getting fed up with not being able to open the curtains until fully dressed.

I made blinds ¾ high out of a thin white linen for my bathrooms. Listed house, not allowed frosted glass.

When I say blinds I mean like a net/cafe curtain - not sure why I said blinds at all. So, a 2" turnover at the top with double stitching and a 2" hem at the bottom. I will take a photo when I can.

We had just a plain cream (voile?) in a previous house which I thought was nice.

Plain voile is acceptable I think.

Anthologie do loads of thin curtains that are beautiful, some with embroidery on. I've just bought a pair and I'm going to put heavier ones over. You can also buy just one if you don't want the gathered look.

No

I can't see what's wrong with nets, I live right on the street people could look straight in, not very private at all

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 19/03/2017 17:51

No

We have plain voile. Live right on the street - otherwise everyone can see in - which is what happens when I (rarely) take them down to wash them.

wobblywonderwoman · 19/03/2017 17:53

We have the IKEA ones and I like them.

Plain ivory ones or I also have some french style lace ones, off Amazon, I don't mind a bit of granny chic! And I love being a nosy neighbour staring out of my nets. Having no window dressing so everyone can stare and see your business is worse than granny nets imo.

Nope

Whathaveilost · 20/03/2017 22:31

Sheer blinds?
Night and day blinds from Hilary's?
