Little Greene French grey or French grey mid

Hi,
I'm re decorating my front room and after 15+ tester pots I think I've finally decided on little greene French grey. But I'm unsure if it will be too dark for the whole room and if I should go for the mid?
It's a Edwardian semi, square bay windows, wooden parquet floor, white picture rail and covering, it also has a large marble fire place which is having cupboards/shelves built both sides.
Was debating doing the new cupboards and shelving in the French grey and the walls in the mid.
But I'm not overly in love with the mid French grey. I'm wondering if it's just because I've not done whole walls.
Has anyone used either colour? Is the French grey very dark?

I used French grey, can't remember if it was the mid. It was awful. Like battleship grey. It made the room look like a prison locker room. We painted over it.

Having such a paint nightmare. All the paints I loved look brown or muddy on the wall.

Farrow and Ball Purbeck Stone - gorgeous grey, changes depending on light, highly recommend.

Little Greene Dark Stone Cool - greyish green, looks lovely (and not 'cool') in our north facing sitting room with a large bay window, white picture rail, ceiling and woodwork. Really goes with deep red/burgundy too. It's very classy and not beige. The name put me off but I love the colour.

Is the purbeck stone as dark as it looks on the colour chart?
The dark stone looks really brown.

We have French Grey Mid in our sitting room (which sounds a lot like yours - bay, parquet, marble fireplace, coving etc) and French Grey Pale in our bedroom. I love both. Definitely not battleship grey - in our house it comes out as a bluey grey.

I kinda wish we'd chosen French Grey rather than French Grey Mid for the sitting room, would have been more dramatic, however it would have been darker so maybe the Mid was for the best

Personally I don't think I'd do walls in Mid and then cupboards/shelves in the slightly darker version - would probably stick with the same for both.

Whatever colour you go for I think you should paint the shelves and cupboards white, to align with the picture rail and coving (and skirting presumably?). Too much grey will look really depressing.

Saw this, and liked the cupboards being darker (not these colours though) but do you think white would be better as skirting, picture rail, coving is white.
First time I've been able to properly decorate this room. Not sure if I'm over thinking it all now.

Trad look = cupboards white
Modern look = cupboards (and probably skirtings too) same colour as walls

I like either, just not sure about having darker version of the same colour.

I have to admit I'm not a massive fan of grey walls in the first place, but it does look more effective when combined with white woodwork. I really wouldn't like grey all around me - too oppressive!

We have French Grey in our back room which has parquet flooring and south-east facing French doors and I love it. It changes nicely with changing light and doesn't feel too dark at all.

Our wardrobe is painted in the lightest version of LG French Grey and in poor light it's still quite a strong colour. If your room is very light it might take the 'full' colour but I'd play it safe with the mid if you're unsure. Worst case you have to repaint in the other version...

Little Greene Gauze is beautiful if you are worried about going too dark. It is a very delicate pale grey and goes beautifully with white wood/plaster etc.

Purbeck Stone is not very dark and it is quite definitely grey. Looks lovely against white. I wanted pale great and that's what I've got.

I have dulux diamond trade mixed in RAL 9002 which is a sort of grey white a bit like F&B skimming stone. My skirting and architraves are all Little Green French Grey, feature wall in bedroom is Little Greene french grey dark which goes v.well and the front door is french grey dark as is the media unit in the main living room.

All works v.well and flows.
Careful - F&B french grey is very different from Little Greene French grey!

By the time I've found a colour, I'd have painted the room in testers!

I've f&b French grey in my kitchen, it's green.
I've both shades of lg French grey in my bathroom, it looks amazing! Will try and find a picture.

Also lg paint is a million times nicer to use than f&b.

Think I've decided to go with my first choice of Little Greene French grey. And do the new cupboards and shelves white. Can always paint them if I decided to at a later date. Thank you all
