Wanted: style advice for dramatic shower room
DorcasthePuffin · 20/02/2017 18:14
HI, I'm going to be redoing my shower room (as soon as I can afford to). It's a small room with a big window, so light. At the moment it's tediously beige with a feckin stupid shower (inherited from previous owner) that's all steam jets and inbuilt radios and none of it works. There's also a broken sink and an about-to-break toilet. I'm planning on a simple, straightforward white shower suite.
But I'm itching to have a bit of fun with the décor. I was thinking of some dramatic tiles across the floor and up the wall, combined with a really dark wall paint. Has anybody got advice? I've looked on Pinterest and keep finding dark blue bathrooms with gold taps, that are well lovely, but I'd love some other options.

A house that we didn't buy had a bathroom that we would have had to redo. I was planning on getting rid of the bath and having a really lovely shower, with a wall of these tiles: www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod42568/stratum-anthracite-tile.html so the water would flow over them nicely.
Although I did not think through the cleaning of them.
I also love the look of feathered or hex tiles.
I'm buying a house with the teeniest, tiniest under the stairs loo which I'm seriously considering painting a dark navy with copper metallics, and a white-ish marble tile floor.
Is that any help? Have you checked houzz as well as pinterest?

Lots of great ideas, NotAMammy, huge thanks. I love those tiles but yes, the cleaning...
I'd forgotten about Houzz, have just happily wasted many hours on there!

Have you seen the fired earth tiles 'sparkle motion'? I love the black, but they also have white and grey options.

Damn you, anxiousowl, they are FABULOUS and I was trying to avoid the Fired Earth pricetag! Mind, just seen they are 50% off...
I would go for the full black too!

My word, have you seen the Neisha Crosland tiles? www.firedearth.com/tiles/range/neisha-crosland-atlas/mode/grid
Stunning!

They are pretty awesome, huh? There is also a similar tile 'Galaxy Black Granite' which B&Q and some other places sell. www.diy.com/departments/galaxy-black-granite-wall-floor-tile-pack-of-5-l305mm-w305mm/194431_BQ.prd
But don't think it is any cheaper when you factor in the sale at Fired Earth just now.
Have also seen glittery/glitzy door handles for bathroom furniture by Ellis Bathrooms. You can see them on page 100 of this brochure - www.jtellis.co.uk/assets/sitefiles/site-79/documents/ellis_bathroom_brochure_nov_16.pdf
You could then create a sort of art deco/hollywood glamour vibe with white wall tiles etc and art deco styled mirror/accessories, 1920s style glass jars. (Google Art Deco Bathroom to see what I mean)
Wish I had been brave enough to try it with my own. I opted for spa type colours with beige/walnut/white for my ensuite, which we're literally in the middle of this week (hence having seen all this stuff). There's still my main bathroom to do so you never know...

How about a fancy loo? Saw one like this in a catalog today www.sanctuary-bathrooms.co.uk/bauhaus-svelte-platinum-wall-hung-wc-and-soft-close-seat/?gclid=CMuwsc_3uNICFSsz0wodgcAJFw

You can also decorate your shower. I mean, replacing the shower head.
I recently changed mine
Looks amazing

That toilet is amazing, Artura! I really like it. BUT it's the best part of £1000 so it'll just stay a fantasy!
Andy, I'm going to replace the whole shower, so that link is really useful! Thank you.
This thread is definitely making me want my dramatic shower room to go a bit bling...
