Can I get a bathroom floor tiled around units?

Basically I've have two bathrooms in my house. They're both decorated fairly inoffensively (not quite my taste but I can live with it). However, both are carpeted. One red and one blue carpet. I think carpets in bathrooms are grim at the best of times but with 2 young boys I dread to think just how much wee has accumulated in them!

I can't really afford to get the bathrooms redone. Has anyone had carpets removed and tiled round existed units, toilet, shower etc? Or put laminate down instead?

Any suggestions gratefully received! I can include pics if that helps at all.

Thanks Smile

I used vinyl tiles as a cheap alternative. You can cut them with scissors so really easy to go round units and look ok
