Hi all

Just a quick question to see if anybody has any advice, we have just moved into our first home which is a lovely 500 year old Tudor hall house. The floors are extremely uneven and we struggle with furniture we would like to get some nice in keeping fitted wardrobes made. Has anyone had any experience with this and how easy it was on floors like this? And any idea of costs or good company's for it?
Thanks!

Make frame to fit the sloping floors/ ceiling and the internal angles to be square for the door to fit into it properly.

My cupboards either side of chimney breast are made from timber 2x2 and doors of mdf all painted egg shell.I put the frames and shelving in myself in myself and a carpenter made the doors which I then painted.

Any carpenter should do this no problem. You will spend a lot on a specialist fitted furniture company I imagine.
I do most things on a shoestring though and rent my home.

I have a very old Cottage - used kitchen tall cabinets ( as they come with adjustable legs) for the wardrobes with the sloped floors !

I used to work for Homebase. Their sliding door guys, Spacepro, offer an installation service. Their standard installation includes making floor flat and level using frame. They also square the edges and ceiling with panels. This achieves flat, square area to locate sliding doors.
