Painting over a strong colour - an easy way?!

I hope there is!
We recently painted our bathroom in a strong pink from Fired earth. I love the colour but sadly it's going to have to go. The walls are in good enough condition to carry such a strong colour (bumpy in patches etc) and the kids keep knocking it off so it's very obvious. It's in a toilet room too and there's Water marks on it try obviously from where they splash their hands around.
So my question is - what on earth can we do to paint over it?! I'm thinking a way more durable and wipeable paint and also something that won't show up all the faults in the wall. Should we paint a few layers of white on first or something before a colour? Any paint brands or colours you can recommend?

I used Dulux Once a few years ago to paint over custard yellow and orange (the joys of the way other people paint houses - even the glasswork looked liked birds custard). It's horrid thick paint that only came in a few colours so I used white as a base coat and then painted cream over the top and it was absolutely fine.

Dulux supermatt trade white is great for killing a dark colour.

Thanks both. Sweary, was the cream the Once paint or another layer pre once? I'll have a look at supermatt too. I did wonder about trying to go over so it left a pale pink but I think that'd look awful

I've just used fortress trade emulsion from b&q to cover forest green. It covered in two coats. Very impressed.

The cream was post once. Had the once come in cream it wouldn't have needed a second coat. It's like painting with porridge though - really thick stuff.
