Home decoration
Decorator coming in the morning and I still can't decide - help!

I'm decorating a south facing living room which will be the starting point for the theme of the whole house - the rest will be rebuilt in a year or so. It's a lovely 1930s house, high ceilings, wisteria front. This room will have a limestone fireplace, wooden floors (mid oak colour), bi fold doors with anthracite grey frame and the fireplace wall will be Brinjal (being bold!). I have pale grey leather sofas. So, for the walls, skirting, woodwork where do I go from here? Something like Skimming Stone for walls? Darker or paler woodwork? Should the skirting board match the fireplace/hearth I.e limestone colour? Have scoured Pinterest and am getting bogged down!
Would really appreciate some design ideas!

I always like clean white woodwork;anything off white won't create that clean sharp contrast with your flooring. A skimming stone/elephants breath would be good as a neutral natural wall colour with more life than hard white. What textures are you planning?

Thanks for the thoughts Glitter. Not sure what you mean by textures?? Looking for matt finish. I'm narrowing it down to skimming stone walls with Brinjal fireplace wall. Maybe something like Wimbourne white for woodwork/ceiling? To tone with skimming stone?

As you have some nice accents - floor / sofa / fireplace, I'd go for pure white wood, agree that anything else looks it as good, and elephants breathy type things on walls sound nice! Something matt, soft and neutral will bring our your wooden floor and look classy IMHO!
