Does mixing bathroom tiles look stupid?

We need some work doing in the bathroom and need some tiles removing from around the bath.

The bathroom is tiled using a light stone porcelain, similar to travertine, a bit like the attached pic.

I'm a bit bored with it but for the sake of ease and cost, thought I'd just replace the existing ones for now. Can I find the same tiles, or even ones that match? Can I buggery.

So now I'm in a position where we probably need to replace all the wall tiles. Does mixing them up look wrong? It's a very small bathroom so I don't want to make it look smaller.

Any ideas on what could look good?

Oooh, I'm in the same position. Our shower needs replacing, which will damage the tiles on the wall at the end of the bath and there is a broken tile on the bath panel. DH thinks this means the whole bathroom needs re-doing. I think we could choose a contrast tile for the bath panel and end wall of the bath. So, who's right?

Our tiles are similar to yours OP. Not sure what the contrast tiles would be at this stage though Grin

We considered the same. The panel isn't tiled though.

The bath is against the wall and fits flush into the space with the shower above the bath but with all the walls being tiled, I think there is a risk it won't work and will just look like a patch up job.

I'm not against it in principle, just in my bathroom. I'd be interested to know what you decide to do!

I had this problem. Couldn't get tiles to match large plain cream colour tiles, even though they were only three years old. So I went for an area of small mosaic tiles in shades of brown. Looks great!
