Help me organise my living room

Tiny house- virtually no storage, we need a table in the living room as I like to eat as a family, but there is so much furniture and. It enough space.

Please help me sort it

Do you use the sideboard? That would be first on my list to either go, or be replaced with some narrower shelves / drawers that don't come into the room as much, if possible.

There are lots of great reasonably prices folding tables out there now, start with John Lewis / others department stores for ideas, then Ikea / eBay to buy. That way you could fold it down to minimal size when not using, but extend right out when a lot of people around.

Can't see the TV unit so well but think about something narrow and flush with the chimney breast again, when it sticks out it makes the room look smaller.

As you have limited floor space think about going up -shelves above doors / the sofa, hanging other things.

Hope that's a start.

Get a bracket to put tv on the wall for a start - that will save you loads of space. Back later got to pick kids up

Some of the furniture you have can you remove it,maybe into another room or if it's not really needed or used sell it or give it to charity.

The unit under the tv is empty the walls aren't very good though and we would need a shelf to put the sky box on. I wondered about putting the to on the wall with the table under it,

The table is 90cm by 30cm folded that we have

The sideboard is my favourite bit it was £10 and I have done it up. It wouldn't fit anywhere else in the house

We also have no where to put the computer :(

A Fb group I'm on, a lot of people seem to use the IKEA Kallax range as tv units, still a tv stand as such but with the extra bonus of the storage boxes underneath, could that be an option?

Mount the Tv on the wall (quite high, about 110cm to the bottom of it) and put a decent storage unit in underneath to hold the sky box and whatever is currently kept in the unit on the other side of the fireplace. Get rid of the unit in the other alcove and put in a built-in bench seat in the alcove. A table that folds down and neat sized sized chairs. Your sofa is also quite big for the number it sits, if you're able to replace it maybe look for a chaise sofa which has a longer bit on one end but isn't as bulky as a corner sofa.

Another option would be to mount the tv above the fire on a swim arm bracket and have an L shaped sofa against the other wall

Also the room is too full of furniture for full length curtains and cropped off ones look dreadful - replace with a well lined roman blind.

Sorry re-reading thread and you mention you're very attached to the sideboard - mount the tv high enough and put it underneath.

Do you honestly love the sideboard? Does it fit your lifestyle? I love stuff but they don't fit my life so they have to go.

Do you need a place for the PC? Can you change it and go for a laptop? It just takes space you can't afford right now.
Get rid of the storage under the TV and mount the TV on the wall.
If you cannot part with the sideboard can you put it on the other side and put the TV on top.
Also your sofa is really bulky. You need something that takes less real estate and it's off the floor to give the impression of space.

I would put a mix of shelves / cupboards in the alcoves depending on what you need to store. I would include the space for the TV (which I'd hang on an angled bracket on the wall) and the table (would try and replace this with one that fits into the alcove / doesn't extend out too much. Would try rehanging that door so it opened outwards if at all possible. Seems to take up a lot of room. Would consider replacing sofa with a smaller one that doesn't over hang the other door and maybe get a chair to push into the corner when needed (otherwise float in the middle to create an L for the TV). Would want a nice chunky shelf over the fireplace too.
The sideboard would have to go no matter how much I loved it.

My pet hate is having to walk in front of the settee while people are watching TV - it made an enormous difference to our place when I moved the settee so that didn't happen - it kinda sectioned the room off.

Is there enough room to put the TV on the wall 90degrees from where it is now, and move the settee so it's in the middle of the room, at 90degrees to the fireplace? Or is it too snug for that/the settee too long to walk by if you did that?

I echo the folding table - we use that Ikea one with the 3 draws either side - means that all the dinner stuff is kept away, and we can fold out both sides if we have visitors, or just one if it's just the 3 of us.

Could you not put the tv on top of the sideboard? Or as others have said mount it above it.

How many of you are there? Because then would the table fit in the gap where the side bored was.

I also wondered if full length curtains where needed.

Could one of the doorways be blocked off?

I'd replace the sideboard with a bureau or study cupboard like this

I appreciate these are not the cheapest options but I bet you could find something similar.
Do you have any kind carpenter friends? Maybe they could help with some built in storage ideas and you could do it bit by bit.
Do you have a budget?

I would also suggest a gate leg dining table easy to fold away and you'll have more room to eat, do homework etc. Like this:

If you can get new furniture:

Swap the three seater sofa for a small 2 seater and a chair. Put the two seater where sideboard is, put chair where computer table is by door. Add small coffee table in between them

That leaves the current sofa area and tv area free. Move dining table there and will be space for three chairs to be set up all the time
