Kitchen Floor Dilemma

Anyone come up with the perfect kitchen flooring??

I've We've pretty much ruled out wood due to high maintenance and also because we'll have a wood-effect worktop and wooden table so wood on the floor as well might be a bit much.

Tiles seem like a sensible option in terms of price, durability and ease of cleaning, but we have tiles atm and I HATE how cold they are.

I like the idea of laminate/vinyl tiles - warmer underfoot than tiles but seem to be pretty hardwearing and easy to clean, BUT vinyl tiles seem to be quite expensive and I've heard laminate isn't great in kitchens and can't be steam cleaned :(

Can anyone suggest the best option??

Tiles with gas fired under floor heating.

We have luxury vinyl tiles and I love them. As you say, they weren't particularly cheap but they look great and hopefully they'll last. Also can't be steam cleaned though.

We have laminate flooring in ours and steam clean it. I didn't know you couldn't. Our floor is just over 4 years old and looks fine.

Tiles but no underfloor heating so I buy a large cheap rug from ikea and replace it when it's too minging.

Tiles are really hard for standing on and everything you drop will break and any oil spills stain badly.

LVT is brilliant, any tiles with underfloor heating except quartz. Never heard the steam cleaning problem either.

Oh hang on, I was talking about terracotta tiles, not vinyl. Vinyl will be easier.

Rubber. Good colours and warm underfoot.

We have engineered wood - love it. Had tiles previously and I would never, ever have tiles again. Cold (ranging between just cold to absolutely freezing depending how old your house is), massively difficult to keep clean (unless you have dark tiles which I don't like), same for the grout, and really uncomfortable to walk on / sit on if you have children / toddlers. Also pretty hard if you have toddlers or babies that might bang heads / knees etc.

I previously had rubber in the bathroom and every. sinlge. piece. of fluff or dirt kind of stuck to it. Not for me.

So if you don't want wood, I'd say vinyl although you have to choose wisely. I would say don't get the wood effect version, it looks like wood effect vinyl (my parents have Karndean) which personally I don't like. Choose something thats not pretending to be something else if you see what I mean.
