Cost of a new front door

I realise this is massively broad but my mum has just said she will give me £1000 as she is doing the same for my brother.

Does anyone have an idea of a price on a front door...?

We've just had a Solidoor - a composite door as part of building works. After lots of research - wanted a wooden looking door but not wood if you see what I mean - Solidoor and Rockdoor were the one that came out best. Ours was about £1100 but builders fitted it as part of extension - not sure how much extra you'd have to pay for fitting on top of that.

I think you can get wooden ones and upvc doors cheaper, but they take more maintenance (wooden) or aren't quite as nice (upvc) and don't have as many security features in the main.

Got the same quote from every Joiner I contacted.

Just choose your Joiner more carefully than I did.

Another Solidoor, with a new window alongside it, plus fitting, was £1900. We're in London.

I don't think it makes any difference where you are for the actual cost of the door (from Solidoor) - and I think the rates for fitting are pretty similar if you go through Solidoor (you can ask for a price inclusive of fitting on the website). Might be different if you source your own joiner to fit it for you.

I have a solid wood door from b and q - it was about £250. It's primed but needs painting. I'd never had a PVC or composite door but it's just personal preference.

We got ours from Liniar. There was such a massive choice!

I found them quite affordable and even the pvc ones were stunning

Mine was £900 including fitting for a composite door. It was through a local company (South East).

Our composite door was £1300 (fitted last year) including fitting. We're in the South East.
