We have one main reception room for tv watching and ds(3) playroom. Photo attached - I'm not sure I've drawn it quite right. It's 3.5m wide x 7.5m long.
I want a cozy tv/sitting area and a play area for ds. I can't work out how to do the tv and fireplace (two focal points issue) and currently we have just lined the walls but I think it would be better split into two spaces using the furniture.

Please help?????

I think I would L shape the couches so you have one between the first half of your room and the other with the back facing the hall door (on that wall).

Would you have room for that?

Not two full couches but either an L couch or a couch and an armchair could do that.
So would you put the tv by the window? Left or right of the fireplace?

I'd probably put it on an angle in the fireplace/window corner.

Small coffee table in front of the couch. Lamps/lanterns. Cushions/throws.

Behind the couch a small table for DC to play on and toy boxes.

I tend to lie down to watch tv so would put two sofas facing each other perpendicular to the fireplace and with the tv opposite the fireplace (if the hall door allows). rug between them and a coffee table if suits you or nest of tables. If not two sofas then you can shove them around easier an angle for tv or fireplace.

If you want separate areas then partioning with furniture is good. I'd probably do a sofa backed up by some sort of storage (sideboard, kallax, whatever). Big room Smile Loads of modern builds have that shape with kitchen along one wall open plan to a long live/play space.

I think we need to know all your furniture and measurements. Halloween Hmm

Ooh I hadn't thought about putting the tv opposite the fireplace. That might be good!

The cable currently comes in the window corner but the tv is to the right of the fireplace which opens the room up as one space whereas I'd prefer now it to be two.
Previous owners had tv in window corner but the French doors end was just dead space. I wanted to avoid that so put the tv in the middle but now I'm not keen.
