Leather or Fabric Sofa

Looking at a new sofa. No DCs yet but there will be in the near future. I'm also a bit of a slob.

We currently have a leather sofa that I have no complaints with (use with throws so never cold or slippy) but was cheap and hasn't lasted well over the 7 odd years we've had it.

There are some nice fabric ones on offer at the moment but I'm worried they will be difficult to clean and not last.

Which do you prefer?

Leather. Fabric sofas look lovely but they don't stay clean.

I like the idea of fabric sofas but leather sofas are far more practical. We are just about to get rid of our old leather sofas and are buying leather again.

Fabric, I find leather sofas cold & you can wash all the covers on ours so easy to keep clean

Fabric is sooooo comfortable and warm, but stains easy and hard to clean. Leather just wipes clean. I have kids and always go for leather and never regret it lol I have myself a giant bean bag which is fabric material so that does me on a chilly night

I much prefer leather sofas and wipe them down with baby wipes weekly. Every time I see the dirt that comes off I'm glad that I bought leather. I don't agree with the too hot in summer and too cold in winter thing that people say either. And I think they look much better!

I love the fabric one, bought mine from dfs with insurance for 5 years for stains and ink or any kind of damage i am quite happy with that.

We've always had fabric and I've found them fine (have 3 kids)

I don't like the feel of leather.

You could always go for removable covers that you can wash?

Another one for fabric. I think leather looks nice on vintage style chesterfield type sofas and Queen Anne chairs, but what I'd call normal slouchy sofas always look better in fabric than leather (just personal preference). I think leather looks a bit old fashioned now.

I always have fabric sofas but last year I bought a leather one thinking it would last longer but I really dislike it. It's not cosy to chill out on. I think I'd like to change it.

HOWEVER, my first baby is due in April, would it be really stupid of me to go back to fabric now?
