Vinyl or laminate in kitchen/diner

Hi all,

Basically looking for advice on the above. We can't decide what to do. Initially wanted laminate but then someone mentioned having a child (baby due in next few months) it might be noisy when they start banging things about etc so recommended vinyl as its warmer and is also hard wearing. I know some people perceive vinyl as cheap looking but there are so many nice ones out now.

I went for vinyl, the design I chose looks like slate tiles. I'm very pleased with it.
Its a heavyweight and v g quality, specially made for kitchens with a slightly textured surface so its not as slippy when wet.
I think its a Leoline design. It was bought via a friend who's a carpet fitter. It wasn't cheap.

My sister has Karndean flooring that looks like bleached wood (I think the design is called Pearl Oak) which is beautiful but it does need fitting properly so it can work out rather expensive.

I have Amtico in a couple of rooms and it looks great and is easy to care for.
