What colour is your hall, stairs and landing carpet?

Currently got a kind of sage green carpet down chosen by previous owners, needs replacing as threadbare. I want to put in something neutral (stone/beige type of thing etc) but DH is saying we need something darker as it'll just show up the dirt.

Stripes, in terracotta, beige and blue grey which ties into the hall/kitchen upstairs and the sitting room downstairs (part upside down house).

A medium shade of grey... lovely and doesn't show the dirt at all xx

We have had a beige stripy carpet up the stairs and along the hall (coir fitted matting at the bottom) for a few years. It has worn really well and doesn't show marks. The stripes run across the hall at the top, but can also run lengthways. Think you can see this in the photo.

I know it will sound strange but we were strapped for cash after renovating the whole house and had an opportunity ( one of the dads at school) to buy a black carpet with flecks of different colours in it. It is a sort of sketchy leaf with grey/ blue and a terracotta pinky colour and sagely green. It is not something I would normally have chosen but he had been to do a corporate building in it and had some left over. He was fitting bedroom carpet at our house and offered it to us very cheaply. It was Kosset carpet and top of the range. We still have it 20 years later and four children plus childminding for 5 years and lots of teenage visitors stomped up those stairs.
I do like stripes carpet though and think it will be my next choice. Ege make some lovely colour combinations. Ours doesn't have a turn so no problem with stripes. Post a pic when you decide please.

I've just had this installed. Absolutely thrilled with it.

We have black cast iron radiators and tiled floors in the hall but a black and fine stripe carpet on the stairs only.
