Is striped stair carpet a good idea?

I live in a 7 year old house and I need to replace my stair carpet. Just wondering if it will date quickly

I have striped stair carpet which is also on my landing and in the bedrooms
Very muted pastel lilac and cream
Absolutely love it and everyone who sees it comments how good it looks

That would match my walls beautifully !

I wondered if it would date too but I went ahead and I love it.

I love the look of it, but ... what happens at the top of the stairs? If you have it on the landing too, does it look odd if you then have, for example, a tiled bathroom floor leading off it, different carpet in bedroom doorways, etc ...

Isn't it normal not to carpet everywhere the same? I have never worried about how flooring looks from room to room.
