Short curtains or blinds in master bedroom?

I'm planning to refresh our bedroom (before selling) and want to replace the very tatty Venetian blinds.

The challenges are that the bed goes right under the window, the sill depth is fairly shallow and the windows open inwards. I've never been keen on shorter length curtains - but it's probably the best option here? Unless anyone has other ideas, that aren't very expensive?

Roller blind but fitted to the outer recess so you can fully wind up before opening the window (if there is the space?).

It would certainly be the cheapest option.
