I had solid oak worktops, loved them

Could you tell me some advantage about that? Thank you

Solid wood does require maintenance, sanding and waxing once or twice a year but it's easy to do. If you scratch solid wood you can sand and re oil the worktops. scratch laminate, it's there forever. Granite is porous, I believe you have to be very careful with liquids. Can't comment on marble or glass

We had solid beech for 8 years, in old house, it looked as new when we left. It was easy to look after and we only oiled it every 6 months. Never sanded it. It was professionally installed, with Tenon joints and each side had 4 coats of oil before being installed.

Some tips: glass worktop savers either side of the hob, for putting hot things on. The same under machines such as mixers, bread makers etc.
Where the dishwasher is fitted in, seal with polyurethane UNDER the worktop. The same around the sink.
Loved it, new house has wood look alike! 😞
