Short and long curtains adjacent to each other in bay window? Or other solution for this space?

We need curtains for a bay window where the "middle" section is a pair of French doors, and the two "side" sections are windows that go from close to the ceiling to about thigh height. The side windows have a pretty deep window sill/ledge, about 25 cm. I strongly prefer long curtains but because the window sills are so deep, they would end up pushing the curtains out at the bottom, and I think it would look weird. We could have the side curtains (for the windows) hemmed to the length of the windowsill but I don't think that would look right up against the long curtains for the French doors. We can't afford custom made so we will be using pre-made curtain panels but we can have them hemmed.

Also, blinds or shades would not work because of how the windows open. It has to be curtains.

Thanks very much for any help! I'm rubbish at this stuff.

Can you hang the curtains further out all the way along? So if a standard pole hangs 2 inches off the wall, put a thick baton above the doors and windows which when the rail is added will then mean the curtains hang clear of the windowsills?

I've seen people hang curtains in a bay that go flat across, end to end, and fix to the ceiling. Is that an option?

I thought it would be daft but when the curtains are open you don't notice they don't 'fit' the bay, when they're closed although they shut out part of the room, it's not part you'd use anyway at night.

could you have blinds hung on the window/door frame? so that when they open the blinds do too?
