Necklace holders - is my idea naff?

I was thinking of wallmounting the doorknobs to hang my necklaces on. If I can't attach them straight to the wall they would get mounted on wood then wallmounted.
Will it look naff?

My mum has done this on the inside of her wardrobe door so they don't get dusty...it's really convenient!!

My dd has this in her room behind an IKEA mirror that comes on hinges. So you can attach it to the wall.

I used to have a pin board and pins with all my necklaces hanging up and it looked good. Door knobs would have looked even better.
