William Morris fabric or similar for curtains

If I like some of the Morris fabric prints but can't afford the metres I need, where else should I look for curtains material ?

Rather predictably the pattern I like (thistle) doesn't appear to be available in length on eBay and I'm not sure I want to bit several lengths from different suppliers and patch them together... I wish John Lewis did fabric online...

William Morris wall hanging tapestry, the NT also do cushions as well so maybe you could get plain curtains and Morris the room up in other ways?

Currently thinking is thistle cushions everything else grey so the cushions stand out. It's probably the most practical way as then we can have any colour duvet.

didi I know it is gorgeous isn't it but out of place in our house, we need a Manor House or something not a crappy 80s barratt box rental!

I think that is a great idea, keep the big things plain/neutral then you can switch the cushions etc depending on your mood

At £52 a metre even my two cushions are going to cost more than all the bed clothes put together. I think I need Roman blinds and curtains to block out the sun (south east facing and I'm an awful sleeper). Both windows are 3 metres wide and I was thinking about floor length curtains. I don't think I can remortgage just for the sake of curtains !

Didireallysaythat - the fabric you are after is printed at a factory in Lancaster, and they sometimes have it in their factory shop. I think the price is around £18 a metre. They only sell in 3 metre lengths, but they will cut at pattern repeats so you can match up for curtains. The staff are really helpful. You could line the curtains with black out lining. It's quite effective and easy to work with and would save you money if you don't need the blinds as well.

Or you could have Roman blinds in the WM fabric and line them with black out lining and have decorative curtains in the WM fabric (or maybe a different WM fabric) that you don't need to pull across the window and that would just be one width wide.

Or have roman blinds (blackout) and then plain curtains. Much cheaper. Or just lined roman blinds....

I love William Morris and have WM prints in most rooms of the house. It does make curtains very expensive though! I bided my time and kept checking eBay until the amount I needed was listed (or at least 2/3 shorter lengths from the same supplier) which halved the price vs retail.

Wish I was near Lancaster now, I would be there and spending a fortune! Depending on where you are there's also a shop just outside Malmsbury called Loose Ends which does end of line stock etc. They didn't have much WM last time I looked but they have new stuff in all the time and had a lot of other prints which was also gorgeous if you're considering something else.

Ive also had stuff from here www.fabulous-fabrics.co.uk, although they didn't have any WM last time I looked they do have some really gorgeous designer stuff at a discount.

Just Roman blinds will probably be more than I can justify - two windows 3m wide 1.2m tall. Got to need 7 metres.... £350....

I think I need to change my tastes !
