Farrow & Ball and Little Greene paint..is it worth it with kids about?..

We're buying out first house finally.. I'd love to use Farrow & Ball or Little Greene paint throughout (if I can find the money for it) but how many of you with two children aged 3 and under have painted using eirher throughout your house and will I spend the next 5 + years following my children around the house nervously for fear of them ruining mighty-expensive paintwork? Is it easy to re-touch?..

Thoughts and experiences appreciated!

Last time we did decorating, we used Farrow and Ball; not that long ago - about three and a half years. It was a bit more expensive, but not wildly so, and there was a colour we particularly liked so that was fine. But, you know, it was just paint, nothing special about it. Touching up didn't work too well, and I ended up repainting an entire wall when one got scuffed. Luckily, it was only a small wall.

We've just had some building work done so now we're decorating again but really, it needed refreshing anyway so I wouldn't say I've found it hard-wearing or long-lasting. I was shocked to see that Farrow and Ball is now three times the price of Dulux. It would have been £120 just for the stairs (2 sets) and halls. There was a colour I liked, but I didn't like it three times as much as I liked a Dulux colour. So Dulux it is.

I think with little children around, I'd be focussing on finding something that resists scuffs and can be wiped clean rather than on fashionable brands. (And how weird is it that paint can have fashionable brands?!)

I would use Little Greene before I would use F&B. Our decorator says LG great to work with and F&B shite to use.
I only have it downstairs in lounge diner .
Really pleased with the LG paint and will fork out for it again , but selectively . Just painted spare room with dulux .
LG cleans up well but i don't have toddlers , have a dog and older kids.

Little Greene intelligent matt is excellent.

Little Greene Intelligent Matt is scrubbable. It is twice the price of Dulux but the colour/finish is infinitely better and you will get about 1.5x the coverage. Saying that, I have used Dulux Endurance in my laundry room (got it in a B&Q closing down sale and couldn't resist a bargain) and the finish is really very good, very matt and it has stood up to a light scrub so far.

Hi I would always go for Mylands paint rather than f&b or littlegreene, much more hard wearing than, either of those brands, Mylands has crushed marble in their emulsion, it's also much thicker & goes on & covers like a dream, my favourite paint & I have used practically every paint known to man.

Another vote for Little Green, it wipes really well and is also extremely low voc which mattered to me for having round kids!
