Hi all,

I am expecting a little boy soon and starting to think about the nursery. The room that will be his is a small double, east facing with a small window. It is quite dark and cold.

I am keen to make it a bit of a blank canvas so as he grows up he can personalise it. It doesn't have to be blue, we would would be happy with most neutrals... But have no idea where to starts! Ideas/help great fully received :)

Hi Smile firstly congratulations and I hope pregnancy is going well. Firstly I would ask what sort off style you usually go for in interiors ? Do you have modern taste or traditional ?

Usually we paint rooms white and then accessorise them with colourful things. Seems a bit stark for a child's room though!

A blank canvas is a great start. Do bear in mind that baby should sleep in with you until at least 6 months due to SIDS risk. We did pale yellow walls as we didn't know what sex baby was and once we knew him better at 6 months ( well actually he moved into his own room at 16 months as it meant I got more sleep) we added things pictures to walls etc.

We are just about to have a baby girl, we have done the same thing with our house although very pale grey walls (my mum says it's cold and boring.)
But first baby girl we wanted something softer, have a look at Cole and sons wallpaper, it's not childrens but the whimsical collection (particularly) the stars looks lovely. Elegant enough to grow up with but fun enough for a child's room.

Have a look on Pinterest the colours being used now for nurserys are not what you would expect but look so nice if done right.
