Tile paint

Has anyone ever used this and if so was the result ok?
Can't afford to change the tiles in the bathroom at the moment but wondered whether this would be the way forward?

I did years ago. If I remember rightly I had to clean the tiles thoroughly and I believe apply a primer. As the tiles are generally smooth you need a key to allow the paint to sit on it.

Looks like there are one coat versions now and in gloss too which is great. Using a white grout pen actually made them look pretty good and if you can't afford to change the tiles right now I'd say they are a good way to go. Don't know what colour you're hoping to use but i think a light colour would probably work best and look less obvious than a deep strong colour.

Don't bother, it'll cause to much grief. In a damp environment, no matter what primer you use it will eventually blow off the ceramic surface.

I've a couple of friends this has happened too. If you have black mildew then spray it with neat bleach, leave it overnight to kill the spores in the grout lines.

Thanks for the replies, still in two minds at the mo! The tiles aren't that bad and I can't afford to replace them but neither can I afford for them to look crap!

I used tile paint years ago as a 'temporary' fix in white, with a white grout pen - and it lasted about 5 years
