What colour is your front room?
sparkle789 · 06/04/2016 20:37
We are redecorating atm. Living room was mainly cream with a flowery wallpaper with pale green. We can't decide what colour we want to go with. I really like yellow and grey ( yellow would only be in 2 recesses so mainly grey and it's a soft yellow) but I don't know if it looks right in the front room.
So I'm after inspiration what colour is yours?

I can't understand this fashion for grey - it's so...well, dull.
Ours is painted not papered. It's called 'toffee cream' and is a bit yellower than cream.
We have yellow in our dining room, which is otherwise a bit of a dark room. Works well.

My last was mellow sage and I loved it. It felt perfect for the room.
We now have a very white (but with tiny hint of grey) but are going for a cranberry stripe wallpaper and throws etc. to warm it up.

Mine is painted pebble shore by Dulux, which is a soft, light grey. I love that colour and have it in the hall too.

I have almost charcoal grey on a small recess wall, white on 2 others and a lovely biscuit colour on the other. The grey works brilliantly with the TV against it and white ikea kallax storage. I love it!

I have Dulux just walnut.
A very soft grey with no blue whatsoever....
Love it

Our living room has just been repainted in Breakfast Room Green by Farrow and Ball. The colour is gorgeous and as our room is quite small tiny I wanted to pick a colour that would work well with it's size.

Mines a dark grey. I painted it grey about 6 years ago before everyone else started to! I love it.

I love a soft grey. It's very calming, like the grey tones of the coast, and can be easily brightened up with coloured cushions, throws etc. Then when you have enough of one accent colour, easy to change!
Wait4nothing · 07/04/2016 09:28
Ours is a creamy beige with a dark teal accent (chimney breast and around French Windows). Curtains bring in some more browny and green tones. I love it, can freshen up in summer with green cushions/throws or add in a slash of red for winter/Christmas that makes it really warm and inviting.
Jaimx86 · 07/04/2016 09:30
Yellow cream with teal. Feels very fresh and clean. It's impossible for me to be in a bad mood in this room!
MuddhaOfSuburbia · 07/04/2016 09:30
Pale grey
goes with EVERYthing unlike some of the creamy colours, but isn't as stark as just white
CheshireDing · 09/04/2016 07:22
Ours is a sort of darkish plaster colour - Ancient Artefact (from Homebase/B&Q), dark brown leather settees and a dark floor. Nice an cosy but south facing so doesn't feel oppressive in the summer. The skirting and above picture rail are white.
Depends what else you have in there really, what type of fireplace etc too.
I do think you have to be careful with yellow, I think it looks lovely this time of year but not sure how I feel about it for the colder months.

Mine is valspar sheepskin rug. I have it in a few rooms abd it's different in every room. It's been done just to get the house painted quickly as it all needed doing when we moved in but I actually really love it!
HolaWeenie · 12/04/2016 08:32
I love the yellow and grey trend. Sofa colours meant I couldn't do it, we've just decorated in sage green and Ivory.
Wishfulmakeupping · 12/04/2016 08:35
Mine is grey and yellow, a few of my friends have also gone for grey with yellow. When I move soon I'm going to go for something a bit different there's some gorgeous green shades around.
JeanGenie23 · 12/04/2016 08:36
My walls are just plain cream but I have a multicoloured chindi rug which brightens the room up
MrsMarigold · 12/04/2016 08:38
Claret. It's a very large room, lots of persian rugs, big windows crewel work curtains, teak furniture.
FurbysMakeSexNoises · 17/04/2016 10:15
Julie's Dream by Little Greene (well the johnstone's copy of it) - a warm light blush pink but very subtle.
What direction do your windows face?
Purplebluebird · 17/04/2016 10:41
Ours is white, but light grey with yellow decoration is gorgeous :)
LovelyFriend · 17/04/2016 10:51
Lol at the poster who thinks grey is dull and likes exciting cream.
My living room is called Dove Grey but it needs a paint after 13 years. But I have really enjoyed it.
