White engineered wood flooring

I love the Scandi look - white painted floorboards and walls with lots of colourful accessories.

We are moving into a new house soon and we're going to completely redecorate which is v exciting but also daunting!

It's a townhouse and we're going to carpet the bedrooms and sitting room on the second and third floors. But downstairs in the hallway, playroom, kitchen and dining room, we would like the white floorboard effect.

I've seen ash engineered wood like this.

It's gorgeous but spendy! Also found laminate white effect for half the price.

We have two young DC so need something hard wearing. Anyone got experience of either? Thanks!

Hi. No not my in current home. I do interior design work and have used their products in clients homes and previous homes of mine.

It's generally nice stuff. I would get samples though just to be sure you were completely happy with the colour.

Bear in mind that if you're after the Scandinavian white lye soaped floor look (expensive Diensen stuff), you can use simple white (not red pine) pine t&g flooring and lye soap them yourself. That way you'd get the look but for thousands less.

If you go for an oak version it will never be as white as pine. Diensen use Douglas fir (type of pine) for their products.

Only thing to note is that if you wanted to do the cheap t&g pine bought from builders merchants is that you wouldn't be able to lay it on top of a solid concrete floor. If you choose an engineered wood floor, you can lay it on concrete as a floating floor with an underlay.
