stuck with dark drab sofa

we have a small snug area that we live in all the time
the room has colours of taupe brown and a touch of red
i have a brown drab sofa that dh will not get rid off!!!!! the room would suit a light beige sofa but its not to be...................for now!
anyway can anyone please advice how i can make the horrible sofa look more better than it currently does

Buy a throw? Just make sure that it's big enough, otherwise it will drive you mad.

Paint the walls a different colour and bring in accent colours in something brighter/fresher with cushions and throws to liven up the sofa?

yes really didnt think of changing the wall colour
