can you help me accessorise this amazing sofa?

I've ordered a lovely new sofa in grey velvet. The room is painted a fresh white with grey tinge, the carpet is grey.

I'd really like pink cushions and a rug. Has anyone seen anything that would go well? Not sure if I should go pastel or bright

As the sofa is velvet I thought maybe I should avoid velvet cushions and go for a different fabric.

I have lots of pictures up and stuff but everything else is quite neutral apart from a green cabinet.

I'll also need to get a lamp.

this video should help
actually the cushions she uses in the video would look great

scotsgirl64 · 28/03/2016 19:08

How about lilac and silver accessories as well ( and pastel pink)....tweedy textures would be good

Zeusette · 28/03/2016 19:32

Would you mind telling me the name of the print you used please

ShinyShinyShiny · 28/03/2016 19:36

That's a gorgeous sofa. I love brights with grey- pink, yellow or orange would all look good. I always try to go for contrasting textures, so silks, tweeds, wool, cashmere etc would all work well.

Great ideas, thank you! That video is fab, I'll definitely have a look at her YouTube channel too

I think you have my sofa, is it the saturday from sofa.com?
I have velvet & rough cotton cushions in a grey colour and a different blue/grey throw. I'm lounging on it right now, its' very comfy.

I have a grey velvet sofa.

I have the following cushions on it
(1 of each)

Apple green - velvet square from Laura Ashley.

Silver satin rectangle with tiny beads from Sainsburys.

Cream round satin from Sainsburys

Pink, green & grey large check cotton from Laura Ashley

Green print embossed square from BHS.

So lots of different shapes & textures.

Green curtains, green lamp, grey carpet, pink blind.

Have a look at Abigail Ahern's blog too, she has some similar sofas:

P.S I went for a grey L.A rug, as if I change the cushions, I dont have to buy a new rug as Im hoping it will go with most colours for a good few years.

Personally I love neon yellow, and mixing prints and textures. Could look great with the green.

cansu · 28/03/2016 20:02

I have a lovely grey sofa like hours. I bought a pink patterned armchair from multi York to go with it and painted walls a very pale pink.

MerryMarigold · 28/03/2016 21:56

I'm thinking some plant prints, those big leaves with fronds, jungly on a light background. Yellow silk. A few geometrics lime/ yellowy/ greys/ browns colours

JolieMadame · 28/03/2016 22:03

Oooh that's lovely

I'd accessorise with ice blue. I saw the combo in a window display a couple of weeks ago and it was really eye catching.

Voteforpedr0 · 28/03/2016 22:07

I'd go with yellow cushions not a warm or creamy yellow but almost neon without going neon if that makes sense. Lots of white in the room too

MairzyDoats · 28/03/2016 22:18

Can I ask where the sofa is from please? Love it.

Boogers · 28/03/2016 22:22

That's a beautiful sofa but bright pink might overwhelm it as to me, from that photo, it looks more of a minky grey. Have you got your heart set on a specific colour or pattern or design?

knobulater · 28/03/2016 22:25

More great ideas - thank you!

I like the leaf print idea but currently obsessed with doing this in the bathroom just with accessories (towels mainly) as its white and wood and think it would go well. Yet to find a leaf print I love though.

The sofa is from Loaf Smile

I would go with a colour which makes you really happy and then work around that. (Mine are lime greens and neon-ish yellows, or oranges). Once you have the colours, you can think about prints etc. Or just go to John Lewis and see which cushions catch your eye.
