Help me choose carpet colour

What colour woukd suit for the stairs and the landing? Currently walls are warm cream/pale yellowish. Banner is white. Floors are beech. The cream in there now is dirty and impractical.

Ideas?

I like stripy stairs (going to order mine now )

How about a brown heather mix/flecked carpet? Or a dark red if you fancy some colour to warm it up.
