Has anyone used regular silk emulsion paint on radiators?

We have recently moved house
We have painted DS room but his radiator is still the horrible paint colour from previous owners so can we use the same emulsion silk paint on it please?

Oke doke
The walls were a sort of dark coffee brown paint colour and are now yellow silk emulsion and they painted the radiator the same dark coffee colour
So we will use a white gloss paint then same as skirting board
Thank you so much for your help

Aw the coffee coloured radiator sounds lovely. .......
If you want white (and radiator is under a window in the shade) go for eggshell it doesn't seem to need the sunshine to stay white like gloss does these days.
don't forget to stick coat hangers with dusters on down the back to get rid of dust groobers so they don't jump out and stick to brush

I have just googled this. Apparently enamel radiator paint is better than standard gloss paint because it produces optimum heat. The more non enamel paint you put on the less performance you will get from your radiator. Also, the heat from the radiator will cause non radiator paint to discolour and crack more quickly.
I would just pay a few extra £££ for proper radiator paint and do the job properly.

WOW you guys are all amazing
Good point about the amount of heat coming off from the radiator can be changed by the paint we use
Actually looking round the house at the radiators - we will buy the special paint cos the hall one has been painted like the walls which is a sort of orange/peach colour which is also deffo going to be changed soon.
So we are going to need to paint at least 2 large radiators
DS radiator is under his window that faces East so very sunny in the morning but it would be in the shade iyswim
