Some leathers are more cold and slippery than others - you may have to pay a bit more for one that doesnt resemble pleather. Agree that a good one should be a classic.

I have one. I'm not terribly fond of it (purchased by OH), but it's childproof, wipe clean and fairly comfortable. As a pp says getting the stylish fabric one I wanted would have been like setting fire to £1,800.00.

Are they .... vaginas on that sofa?!

Trollicking · 18/03/2016 19:27

I think they are bit dated myself but they can look ok. I'm not a fan.

We bought our sofa from a company that bought leather in Italy then sent it to somewhere else to be made up so you picked a style and a leather then waited...
We have 2 sofas and a large armchair that are black, splodgy and look exactly the same as when we bought them about 15 years ago. Black leather may be dated but these will, no doubt, last until they are on trend again.

The guy told us at the time that the most hard-wearing leather will be thicker, harder and less comfortable while the beautifully soft, warm luxurious stuff will wear badly so any leather furniture is a balancing act between the two extremes

I've got a lovely old Chesterfield sofa but it's knackered and covered in kids scribbles. And it's cold. It's so comfy though.

We love ours. Think Big Bang Theory Grin

We have 2 M&S Abbey brown leather sofas. They are 10 yrs old and look like new despite having raised 3 kids in this house. They are a classic style that I don't think has dated, but I'm not particularly bothered if it has.

Roseberrry · 21/03/2016 11:56

I don't like them personally but they are very practical with 2 young children and a dog. I think if we had fabric they'd have been ruined years ago.

I love my 10 year old brown leather sofa. It's survived baby puke, toddler projectile vomit, numerous spilt drinks and now my delightful toddler has taken to using it as a tissue to wipe his nose on. So very glad we didn't change it for a grey fabric sofa just before I got pregnant!

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2016 12:07

I love my leather sofas, they are old, squishy, comfy & child & dog proof.

I am now almost crying at the vagina sofa picture.

ifitsnotanarse · 21/03/2016 23:40

My eyes!!!

Two massive leather sofas. Completely indestructible with 2 DCs and a dog. And DH. Would love a fancy grey material corner sofa, but will not happen for at least 13 more years.
