varnish for floorboards

I have spent a good few days sanding the floorboards of my bedroom. They look beautiful, but now it's time to varnish.

So, can you please recommend the best varnish for doing this. Do I need to go for expensive ronseal or would a cheaper wilko alternative work just as well?

Hi
We always use this instead of varnish
I like the Matt one but you can get a satin finish
Osmo Polyx Oil
Really easy to use and looks great
Lasts ages even on our kitchen floor

I too think oil rather than varnish. I think it's teak oil that dh uses at his customers homes

Have you considered staining the boards and then using a clear varnish over the top?

Nice job! Did you use water based varnish or polyurethane? A builder friend told me the polyurethane lasts longer but it takes a day to dry between coats!!
