Can anyone recommend a sofa bed?

We live in a small house, so need a sofa bed to accomodate visitors (no spare room). I'm looking for a really comfortable one that also works well as a sofa, was looking online at the Natuzzi one at Furniture Village, but I'm not convinced by the reviews. Any recommendations? TIA

This may sound unhelpful but we have never managed to find a sofa bed worth having. They are never very comfortable as a sofa because of the lack of support and the mattress isn't thick enough or well sprung enough for more than one person. We paid over £1000 for one years ago and even that was uncomfortable!

Eventually we gave up, sold it and bought a lovely comfy sofa and a blow up bed to get out for visitors - good quality ones aren't expensive and are loads more comfy than a sofa bed mattress could ever be :)

We just got this one which is quite good. It's definitely fine as a bed (with mattress topper) and if you are near an IKEA you could check it out as a sofa

The Ikea one isn't hugely comfortable as a sofa. I second the suggestion of separate sofa and airbed.

We have the same one as Lago and find it plenty comfortable as a sofa. We purchased extra cushions for the side and it's really nice to sit on. Our guests have said it's really comfortable and I love the storage space underneath.

We got it in the burnt orange colour, which is gorgeous and suits our house really well.

I really hate sleeping on air beds!

We have just bought one from this website and are awaiting delivery. I was impressed with the size and depth of the mattress when watch the demonstration video thingy.

Whatever you do, don't buy from Furniture Village! We bought a sofa bed and matching 2 seat sofa not so long ago (maybe 6/7 years?). They have both expired, the 2 seat sofa went to the dump more than a year ago.

first you have to think if it's foremost a sofa or bed.
we ended up getting one from next (very thin matress on a 'trampolin' base) & a memory foam matress topper.
it's comfortable enough for a few days/weeks (have slept on it to try it) and even elderly fil with mobility problems is fine on it.

We have one similar to this one and we've had it for years. It's still in very good nick.

It was possibly an Ektorp one which they don't do any more. It's a comfy sofa and bed and has removable, machine washable covers.

We have the ikea freihten corner sofa in the grey as posted here already. Absolutely love it, comfortable as both sofa & bed. Had it when we lived in Canada, then bought the exact same one when we got back to the UK. Other friends here have bought it too after seeing it.....you should go try it out first.

We have one from John Lewis - it's used daily as a sofa and comfortable to sit on - has been used for a bed and is good enough for occasional use. Can't find the one we have on their website but we've had it for about 5 years or so and still as good as new.

We have had a sofa bed for years, bought from Habitat originally - wanted a 3-seater sofa bed, which are hard to find, as only space for the one sofa in the flat.

It is ridiculously comfortable as a sofa. It is not so great as a sofa bed. You definitely need a mattress topper on it to be comfortable, which is a bit of a pain.

Any sofa bed that is "concertina" and the mattress folds back onto itself is never going to be that comfortable, imo, as the mattress needs to be thin enough to fold up, and you get the weird lines on it so it's bumpy. "Click Clack" type ones are comfortable, but look ugly mostly. This looks like one of the better ones. The IKEA ones upthread look good - we tested them out in the store, they seem genuinely comfortable so I'd buy one of those if I was in the market for a new sofa bed.

Wildly expensive, but we have a multiyork sofa bed which is very comfortable in both guises. We could never have afforded it without a family member's staff discount but it is brilliant.
