needing a new bed for ds 12- tiny boxroom

his room is tiny - 6 feet by 6 feet 2 and he also needs somewhere to put his clothes and stuff

Do you reckon the stompa mid sleeper beds are too babyish or is there someway to make it more 'cool' . He doesn't want a high level one- tried one and he kept bashing his head on the ceiling (low) and found it claustophobic

There are quite a lot of ikea 'hacks' of built in beds online - you customize the under bed bit to suit your needs in terms of size/storage etc - the bed itself is then put on top - so kind of like a mid sleeper /cabin bed but s bit cooler.

Have a look on Pinterest for mid sleeper beds or high beds. So many good ideas!

The drawers underneath are very large with plenty of storage.

It's a Brimnes bed from Ikea.

Ds1 had a high sleeper in his boxroom but he hated it. Made the room seem dark and it was a bugger to change the bed.

We replaced it with an ikea bed with storage headboard because he has no space for a bedside lamp otherwise. It's great, has a feel of a day bed but with storage for books and random stuff at the head end. A large shelf top with room for lamps and gadgets on top too. It does add 30 cm to the length so it fills the length of his room basically. There is a max of 10 cm between the end of his bed and the window.

There is loads of room underneath the bed too.

We managed to find him a narrow desk from John Lewis too (sold as a dressing table) so he can sit and work in his room too.

The standard bed length is 6ft 3 ins so you may find an off the peg one difficult to fit in.
