Roman blinds and curtains

Hello wise ones. Had some fab advice from you all for my kitchen, now I'm on the study.

Question .... If Roman blinds are outside the recess, can you still hang curtains or will it look silly? Blinds are beige, dark purple and green ... Dorma Bloomsbury. I was thinking of adding silk dark purple curtains either side, they are stored in my attic and I was keeping them hoping I could use them. Room looks a bit bare.

TIA

You'll need a rail that sticks out from the wall so a metal one would do.
I think it depends on the style of the room - Will they just be dress curtains? If so you could probably just fix them to a swish rail on either side of the roman blind.
