Made to measure roman blinds

I am looking to get a roman blind made for our bedroom and many places seem to do them now (Laura Ashley, Next, Dunelm, blinds2go). I think I've spent too long researching and I'm unsure where to go. Does anyone have any recommendations on where to go and where not to go (e.g. High Street stores or online)?

I've used Tuiss a few times, probably not the cheapest but the quality is great. Speedy delivery too.

John Lewis did mine. As always they were great. Lots of fabric to pick from.

I've bought from Dunelm before and been happy with then.
Now I've got more time on my hands I make my own.

Don't go to laura Ashley.
Their made to measure blinds are overpriced and poor quality with loads of visible machine stitching.
I make blinds and they charged a customer of mine the same for one blind (which was rubbish) as I charged her for 2 the same size, interlined and handsewn

The Dunelm mill one do have some visible stitching too but only at the bottom. They also use rod tape rather than making for pockets in the lining so not such a neat look from outside the window.

I agree with Alison. My hand made ones have a much better finish as completely you can't see the stitches. If you're on a budget it's worth seeing if you can find someone to make them for you.

I have a recommendation I originally found on an old mumsnet thread from a few years back. Alison Campbell Creations www.campbellcreations.co.uk/

You can get the material from them or supply your own (we did). The cost was significantly cheaper (including the postage) than the other options we looked at, and the quality is really good. We had quite a large roman blind - about 250cm, and we went for the chain mechanism which goes up and down as easy as a roller blind.

Tuiss made mine and they're brilliant, I intend to get more from them. They are slightly dearer than, say, Dunelm but they use a better raising mechanism- it's a side chain similar to a roller blind rather than mucking about with strings and trying to kept it straight. I have 3 windows in my sitting room and had a Scion fabric which totalled about £240 from Tuiss, a company in town quoted £820 for the exact same thing.

The Alison Campbell blackout roman blinds I ordered came with 7 ugly rows of fabric-destroying stitching ACROSS THE ENTIRE WIDTH OF THE BLINDS. The stitches not only ruin the fabric and presentation of the blinds, but they also let light in through the 'blackout blinds'.
The blackout blinds I ordered from campbellcreations.co.uk were of extremely poor workmanship quality and look like they were made by an amateur. The 5 blinds I ordered cost me nearly £1,500 in the Alison Campbell sale. I wish I had never come across cambellcreations.co.uk - ever. I have attached a picture of one of the blinds showing the 7 ugly rows of stitching. I hope this review helps.

Do you have local interior design shops that will make them for you? They usually have a wide range of fabrics to choose from. Prices similar to John Lewis (where I live anyway). Plus they can advise you

I'd love to make my own Roman blinds and I'm pretty good at sewing and DIY. Anybody know a good tutorial?

llangennith - I have had this book for a lot of years - it is just being relaunched.

It will teach you how to make roman blinds amongst many other things.

I ordered a blind from Campbell Creations, www.campbellcreations.co.uk/
on 19 March, they say it is about 2-3 weeks till delivery.
It is now the 4 April, and they just sent an email saying they can't get the fabric until maybe the 16 April but say maybe sooner... but give no estimate of how long it would take to make up the blind or when it is most likely to be delivered. So that took 9 working days, 16 days total, to tell me that. Happily though, they have my money.
So, I regret ordering with them, and wish I'd opted for a company that has the fabric and doesn't wait two weeks to tell me they don't have it.
So I'd shop elsewhere.

The blinds were not acceptable , you had good reason to refuse them.

We had some from John Lewis, we'll made, reasonable price, good advice and quick.
