Child safe paint for bathroom wall

I want to decorate my bathroom wall with my children's handprints but I'm not sure what type of paint to use. It obviously needs to be child safe as it will be on their skin, but child safe paint is washable, which isn't suitable for a bathroom? Is there any type of paint I can use, or anything I can paint over the top to make it appropriate for a bathroom?

The room never gets steamy as we shower in a different room, and the children don't have hot baths, so I don't think we need to worry about mildew resistance etc.

Could you draw around their hands and colour in?
Or do handprints in paint on paper and then cut carefully around them to create a stencil to paint on yourself so you get more detail than a simple hand shape?

Could you do handprints onto a canvas and hang it on the wall instead?

Thanks for the suggestions but I'm not sure that will create the effect I'm after - I want to create an underwater scene with fish handprints so i don't think the canvas will work. I'm not great art so I think if I do the stencil it will end up looking a bit rubbish - at least with the handprints I can blame the effect on the kids!

You can get custom stamps made of hand and footprints...

You could use finger paints on paper, cut out and laminate them before you stick them in the wall.

Normal emulsion paint would be ok I'm sure! It's water based and low voc.

Thanks for the suggestions. Not sure about brave, more foolish maybe! But I figure we can always paint over it in a few years... Will check out emulsion paint and if not I like the laminate suggestion.
