Which Grey Paint???

peachcake · 22/11/2015 16:55

I'm trying (and so far failing) to find a pale grey paint to my lounge and kitchen diner. I can't seem to find a true pale grey! They either have blue, mauve or brown undertones.
Has anyone found a nice one, I'm spending a fortune in tester pots!! x

Have you tried F&B Cornforth White?

mumma24 · 22/11/2015 19:51

Strong white farrow and ball, it's a light grey, cornforth is darker

mumma24 · 22/11/2015 19:55

Strong white

Dulux Polished Pebble is lovely.

Chapsie · 26/11/2015 19:16

I was going to say strong white too!

TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/11/2015 19:19
  • Dulux. Stupid phoneBlush
TripTrapTripTrapOverTheBridge · 26/11/2015 19:19

Duly Polished Pebble. I have it it most rooms and it's a true pale grey

Sylviecat · 26/11/2015 19:21

We have cornforth in our living room and it is lovely.

Celticlassie · 26/11/2015 19:23

Another vote for polished pebble. It's very grey.

MamaDuckling · 26/11/2015 19:25

String White...

MamaDuckling · 26/11/2015 19:25

Strong, not string!

PrimalLass · 26/11/2015 19:32

I don't think Cornforth is a true grey - it's a bit pink/brown.

I like Ammonite.

dairyfarmerswife · 26/11/2015 19:45

I have just used wilko pearl grey. No idea how to attach a photo... Ooh. Think I've done it. But not sure you will get the effect from a photo Grin

My front room is east facing and the Cornforth White looks true grey in there, definitely no pink or brown. It does look like a slightly darker version of Strong White based on your pics

Polished pebble has quite a blue hint, at least it did in my north facing room, I had to paint over it as it was too blue. All colours depend on the light so much.

Dulux's pebble shore is a soft grey, worked better than polished pebble for me. Dulux's thimble case is a very pale grey, too pale imo but very soft and inoffensive.

Rupster · 04/12/2015 11:46

I had exactly the same problem, and ended up using Dulux Polished Pebble.

It's in a north-facing bedroom. Very happy with the result. It's a light grey. I like to think of it as the grey equivalent of magnolia. It has no bluey hues at all and no purple, just light grey and nothing else :-)

I would definitely recommend it.

FoodPorn · 04/12/2015 11:53

Fired Earth Malm. I have it in my front room.

MrsBosh · 06/12/2015 11:49

Just done well, decorator has our hallway in Dulux White Mist with Brilliant White woodwork and ceiling. There is a noticeable contrast but it's still nice and light Smile

We spent a fortune on testers too!

Truckingalong · 06/12/2015 11:53

Valspar modern grey.

Finola1step · 06/12/2015 11:55

I soon as I saw your thread title I thought...Cornforth White. I love it.

SauvignonPlonker · 13/12/2015 16:39

Another one for Valspar modern grey after faffing about with tester samples for ages. It's really hard wearing too - DD 2.5 has drawn over it a few times & it has cleaned up really nicely with. JML magic eraser.

IonaMumsnet · 14/12/2015 16:28

Have you tried French Grey by Little Greene Paint Company? That's a 'proper' grey but not too dark.

puffylovett · 14/12/2015 23:34

F and b pavilion grey is beautiful. Cornforth is stunning but has lavender undertones in my hall.

Shallishanti · 14/12/2015 23:44

we have pearl by Little Greene, in 2 versions (deepest and next but one)

  • in our very dark hallway- works well
FreckledLeopard · 14/12/2015 23:54

I have Dulux Pebble Shore and it looks great.
