Lovely warm toned wooden floor & rich cream walls, is that too boring for words?

Are the walls bare or covered in art/bookcases/full of windows? Is your room a beautiful space where every item in the room is worth looking at? I think the answer depends on the rest of the stuff in the room.

There's a fireplace, 5 full sized bookshelves, a piano, 2 inside doors in a warm pine & the back is a set of French doors looking onto the garden. We have pictures on every wall & a massive cat tree in beige that fairly blends in so you don't notice it :) Oh & a big mirror above the fireplace. there are basically no plain walls but with 2 smallish kids I wouldn't say its a beautiful space no! Our two 2 seater sofas are a deep red colour & we have a cream cushioned & light wood Ikea chair.

I would like white billowy muslin curtains at the French door but we have a cat who would tear them to shreds. Instead of curtains at the front & back we inherited vertical cream blinds, not my favourite but they are OK.

There's a lot of light, its not really a cold or a warm room....it would be paint as I don't like wallpaper.

I'd go white for the walls. I'm sure some people will think that's as boring as cream but just looks cleaner/fresher/more up-to-date somehow.
