Knocked through front room/dining room. Light olive green sofa staying, bright yellow table staying (and ideally want to pick this up with some other yellow accents, perhaps cushions and a lamp) dark wood floor staying. Mid century ish style. Can I do light pink walls (FB Calamine-y)?! I'm definitely tempted! Other options are another shade of green (too much with the sofa?) or the more ubiquitous neutral/classic grey (looks great with yellow but the idea of it doesn't make me smile so much!). Help!

Don't do pink if you have a yellow table in the room. That particular combination is foul.

Ha! Think most people are of a similar opinion as a quick google for 'pale pink with yellow accents' brings up pretty much zero! Have attached the closest I can find to what I'm thinking, but they're not quite right. There will be a lot of wood in the room and I'm only talking a TOUCH of yellow as table has wooden legs (grasps at straws!)...

Other options are a muted olivey green (I like green best of all for walls but does it go with a similar shade of sofa?) or grey. Grey is gorgeous but it just puts me off that it's everywhere at the minute.

Or I sell my yellow table. But I like my yellow table!

Depending on the tone of the table, and the emphasis of the table within the whole room ( lone yellow table in pink room is very different from yellow table amongst other furnishings) - think Miami and India for pinks/ yellow combos

I think it could work and also pink has the benefit of being incredibly flattering to people's complexions :)

Ooh thank you so much Bookish! Yellow table is just one piece of a lot of furnishings and I'm definitely thinking about just picking out the colour with one or two accents elsewhere. I loved the colours when I went to India and think your last line has perhaps persuaded me.... Might start a Pinterest board with your images on it and take it from there...

I thought it was just me that decorated their house in colours I look good in :)

I had my colours done and use those shades to paint the house :o

I think you could so it in a kind of scandi way but I'm not convinced by pink. maybe a soft lilac depending on the shades of yellow and green?

These are mostly bedrooms but you can get the gist...

Thanks myother! I agree that lilac is a much nicer combination with the yellow and also looks good with green. I just hate lilac! I'm a tricky bugger aren't i? What do people think about the green walls option? Too much with green sofa? I am leaning towards the pink still. I guess if it looks terrible with the table I can always eBay the table and get something more neutral...
