Is grey over?

Want to decorate my living room before Christmas. Have limited budget, will not be buying new furniture, only repainting and new curtains.
We have a chestnut leather corner sofa ( I know ) duck egg blue love seat, basically large chair. It is a double aspect room, so lots of light. Currently have white walls, mostly light oak furniture (tapley unit we cannot afford to get rid of as it covers the length of one wall) .
I would like to paint it Cornforth white . Dd has it in her bedroom and it's gorgeous, do you think grey is a bit passé ? I do not decorate very often so want to get it right.
Was thinking of grey curtains and lots of white accessories. Have looked on pint rest and there are quite a few living rooms like this. What do MNs think?

If you like it buy it. You have to live in that room.

If you can't get it at your preferred shop and they only have a new range of colours, you will know that the trend has moved on; if you can only buy it at the pound shop or on discount you know it has passed into mainstream

Don't people decorate and choose colours just because they like them any more?

If you like it, do it. I decorate according to my personal taste, not what I am told I should like.

I'd not be disappointed if it was.

I've got quite a lot of grey, but I just see it as a neutral colour. I'm not a fan of creams / browns, so use grey pepped up with blues and oranges etc. Grey definitely isn't 'edgy' anymore (if it ever was!), but then neither is fawn / mushroom etc. And nobody worries about using those.

it makes everything look nice/stand out, and it doesn't clash with anything

plus it's the same colour as my dc's hand marks and dogs' nose slime

I certainly hope not, we've just decorated our new kitchen in various shades of grey!

Thanks for all the replies. Its not that I want to be ' on trend' rather want a look that will not date in 7 or 8 years.
Love Cornforth white and agree grey is very neutral.
I have 2 very large windows, always bought expensive curtains in the past, but would like to avoid spending so much this time, any budget curtain tips?

I hope not as I'm about to paint my hallway in Ammonite, which is far more grey than Cornforth White (they are side by side on the wall as samples at the mo). I love greys - have Charleston Grey in the living room and utility.

I think grey is always going to be around, if not the absolute height of fashion at all times. It is so classic that I can't see it dating too much either - especially as it is the perfect background for most furniture. Black or seriously bold dark colours like Railings (which I'm about to do our downstairs loo in) are very in at the moment if you are feeling brave! We have cornforth on the walls and ceiling in our drawing room. It's a lovely compromise on the Purbeck Stone which DH vetoed, I'm pleased he did now as it keeps the room calm. Now that I have lulled him into a false sense of security with non-white ceilings I am going to put the Purbeck all over the dining room! It is lined with a mirror collection and lots of clear glass (terrariums and taxidermy) so can take the drama!

Grey is lovely and definitely not out of fashion. It can look very elegant and sophisticated and won't date. Our living room has just been papered in soft, pale grey and it looks and feels so calm and relaxing. Our furnishings are shades of duck egg blue, soft greys, eau de nil and a touch of mustardy yellow. These colours are reflected in the art I've put up, and I've put a huge antique mirror over the fireplace. I am saving for a gorgeous chandelier to finish it off. I was a little sceptical about grey (I was afraid it would look dull and cold) but I couldn't be more delighted with how our living room looks now. I don't think you would be disappointed if you chose grey.
